Fall is one of the best times to visit Walt Disney World, but it's also refurbishment season. Here's everything closed or scheduled to close between now and the holidays (as of Oct 14, 2026), and how to plan your days around each one.

The big ones: plan around these

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: closed Nov 2 – Dec 17, 2026

Magic Kingdom's flume ride goes down on Nov 2 and reopens Dec 18 (Source ↗). If you're visiting in late October, put it early in your Magic Kingdom day before the line builds. If your trip falls in November or early December, the closest substitute for a water-ride thrill is gone, so budget your Lightning Lane selections toward the headliners that are still running.

Typhoon Lagoon: closed since Sep 9, 2026, reopening TBA

Disney hasn't announced a reopening date for Typhoon Lagoon (Source ↗). Don't buy a Water Park add-on expecting it; check what's actually operating for your dates before you book a water-park day.

Walt Disney World Railroad: closed Sep 28 – Oct 29, 2026

The Main Street and Fantasyland stations reopen Oct 30 (Source ↗). The Frontierland station has been closed since July 2025 with no reopening date (Source ↗). If the train is part of how you get a tired crew from one side of the park to the other, plan to walk until Oct 30, and even after that, the train won't stop in Frontierland.

A simple planning checklist

  1. Write down your park days, then cross off anything on this list that overlaps.
  2. Visiting before Nov 2? Ride Tiana's Bayou Adventure early in the day.
  3. Skip planning around Typhoon Lagoon until Disney posts a reopening date.
  4. Re-check a week before you go. Closures get added and extended all the time; our Disney World refurbishments page and the live tracker are updated as sources change.
