ParkScoop / Ride reliability

Which rides break down the most?

See which rides are down right now and for how long, how today has gone for every ride, and how often each one has broken down lately. It covers all four Walt Disney World parks, Universal Orlando (including Epic Universe) and Disneyland Resort. Every number comes from ParkScoop’s own log of live ride status, and we show how many days and checks sit behind it. Free, no account, no app.

How this works

How do you measure reliability?

On a 15-minute schedule during park hours, ParkScoop saves each ride’s live status from the free ThemeParks.wiki API. Uptime is the share of those checks where the ride was running, out of all the checks where it was either running or temporarily down. Scheduled closures, refurbishments, park-closed hours and checks with no standby posted are left out, so they never count against a ride. A day when a ride never ran at all is treated as closed, not broken.

What counts as an outage?

One or more back-to-back checks where the ride was reported down. We time it from the first down check to the next check where it wasn’t down, but only when those checks are no more than 20 minutes apart. When there’s a bigger gap we still count the outage, we just don’t guess how long it lasted. The “typical outage” is the median of the outages we could time.

What do the labels mean?

They’re a ParkScoop rule of thumb, not an official park metric: Rock solid is 98% uptime or better, Mostly reliable is 95–97.9%, Some hiccups is 90–94.9%, and Breakdown-prone is under 90%. A ride needs at least 24 logged checks (about 6 hours) before it gets a label.

How much data is behind these numbers?

We started logging on October 16, 2026, and the tracker uses the last 7 days plus today. Our logger is scheduled every 15 minutes from 8 AM to 8:45 PM Eastern (5 AM to 5:45 PM Pacific; an hour earlier once daylight saving time ends), but the free scheduler behind it doesn’t always run on time, so some days have only a handful of checks. That’s why every card shows its number of checks, labels wait for 24+ checks, and today’s bar shows the gaps. Weather closures (like lightning near outdoor rides) show up as “down” too.

How should I use this on my trip?

Ride the least reliable headliners early in the day, or book them first if you have Lightning Lane, so a breakdown later doesn’t cost you the ride. If something on your list is down, the “Short waits right now” list gives you a backup in the same park. Always check the official park app for the latest status.
